The emotional, yet assertive Tom Hiddleston has really dazzled movie audiences over the past decade. He has notably shined as Loki in Marvel entertainment and he even had a show (called Loki) revolve around him on Disney + in 2021. It should be said that Loki was his best piece of work by far and show the show garnered very favorable reviews — as Rotten Tomatoes gave the show a 92% score and 95% of Google users liked it.  With that said, I’m going to reflect and untwine 10 fascinating facts about the beloved actor Tom Hiddleston. 

  1. He earned a degree in classics at the University of Cambridge

Hiddlestone was a sharp, dedicated student in his university days, as he studied classics at the University of Cambridge. After his Cambridge tenure, he studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatics. He’s reflected on the rigorous 16-hour work slate that was often demanded at the Academy on many occasions. A fun fact about Hiddlestone is that he is able to speak Greek due to his studious nature as a young college student. The well-educated Marvel Villain is far from the only influential person to graduate from Cambridge – Isaac Newton, Alan Turing, and Sylvia Plath cherished degrees from the utterly prestigious university. 

  1. Hiddleston was introduced to the Marvel Verse in Thor (which debuted in 2011)

As widely enunciated, the smooth-talking Hiddlestone caught his big break with Marvel in the movie “Thor” – which took place in 2011. Of course, Hiddleston played “Loki”, who was Thor’s evil and adopted brother, and the scoundrel plans to overtake Asgard (home to Thor and Loki). Meanwhile, Thor is stuck on Earth and he finds a role as a guardian of Earth. The movie Thor didn’t actually blow audiences away – as it obtained a 77% Rotten Tomatoes score (and 84% of Google users admired the film), but it was clear that Hiddleston showed a plethora of potential in the shoes of the mighty Loki. 

  1. Hiddleston won the MTV Movie Award for Best Villain

Hiddleston really gained steam in the entertainment world in 2013 – as he won MTV Movie Award for Best Villain. His role in the Avengers was utterly impressive and it was well deserved for him to win the MTV award. It would be an understatement to say his surprising range of emotion mixed with wit is on another level. Kathryn Hahn (Agatha Harkness), Josh Brolin (Thanos), and Michael B. Jordan (N’Jadaka) are also recent Marvel villains to win the bad guy award from MTV. The Avengers film also garnered very favorable reviews — as Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 91% score. 

  1. He is an INFP personality type 

Hiddleston has been rumored as quite the unique personality type: INFP. The INFP stands for introverted, intuitive, feeling, and perceiving. It’s the ninth rarest MBTI and it’s one of the rarest MBTIs among males. Famous INFPs include Williams Shakesphere, Vincent Van Gogh, Johnny Depp, John Lennon, Bob Marley, and J.R.R. Tolkien. 

  1. He dated Taylor Swift

Hiddleston was quite popular for his relationship with the mystical singer Taylor Swift. They dated for 15 months between 2015 and 2016 until Swift put an end to the relationship. It was reported that nobody cheated, but things just didn’t work between the two. Hiddleston is currently engaged to actress Zawe Ashton (who has been in Blitz and Wanderlust)  and Swift is engaged to Joe Alwyn.

Hiddleston isn’t only a super-villain, as he has also shined in Midnight in Paris. Owen Wilson (who is also in Loki), was the main character in the romantic film. Hiddleston plays F. Scott Fitzgerald in the inspiring film. The film garnered a very impressive 93% Rotten Tomatoes score. 

  1. He is a UNICEF ambassador 

Hiddleston has been a UNICEF ambassador raising awareness of the humanitarian crisis in Guinea and South Sudan. He traveled to Guinea in 2013 and South Sudan in 2016 & 2017. 

  1. Hiddleston will return as Loki in Loki: season two

Loki: season two is currently filming and there isn’t a release date just yet. With that said, it is expected that Loki 2 will showcase a scene at McDonalds. It would be an understatement to say Marvel and Loki fans are excited for Loki 2 – as Loki was the most watched Marvel series on Disney +. 

  1. He was born in London

Loki may have mixed emotions about Earth, but he was still born in one of the most interesting locations on the green planet: London. He isn’t the only mega-influential person who was born on Earth, as David Beckham, Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin, and Dua Lipa also call London home.

  1.  Tom and Zawe Ashton are expecting their first kid

As previously mentioned, Tom is engaged to the fascinating Zawe Ashton. Well, it appears that their family is growing, as well. It was reported on July 1st of 2022 by Rappler that the pair is expecting their first kid.
