Star Wars: Starfighter is on the horizon
By: Jake Rajala
The next Star Wars film is bound to be called “Star Wars: Starfighter”. It will be released on May 28th of 2027. Posters and previews for the Star Wars flick are around the corner. With that said, I’m going to lay out five things we should know about the film.
- Shawn Levy
Shawn Levy, who is a Canadian-American, has the keys to the operation. He is the director. Some of his other works are “Stranger Things”, “Deadpool and Wolverine”, “Night at the Museum”, and “Free Guy”. It’s safe to say that he doesn’t miss. Don’t expect this film to be as atrocious as “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker”.
- Ryan Gosling
If Ryan Gosling can shine in Blade Runner: 2049, he will fit just right in with this project. We’ve seen many A-list actors who have made showcases in the franchise. Jack Black and Jude Law are people that come to mind.
- Claudio Miranda
Star Wars fans are in luck. One of the best in the visual effects is Claudio Miranda, and he will have his hands on this project. He previously worked on “Life of Pi”, “Oblivion”, and “Top Gun: Maverick”. Clearly, he’s a very gifted mind. My favorite film of his has to be “Life of Pi”.
- Rey
Rey is rumored to be in the fiilm as a Jedi mentor. She may be establishing a Jedi Academy in the movie. It’s nearly a standalone film, but having Rey in that role will not make it such. It will be 15 years after the “Rise of Skywalker”.
- Villains
Matt Smith and Mia Goth will be the villains in the movie. Matt Smith was recently in “The House of the Dragon”. He is also in “Doctor Who”. Meanwhile, Mia Goth is nothing short of spectacular. She was in “Frankenstein” and she will be in “The Odyssey”. I like these actors more than Adam Driver, I must admit.
As shown, this will ber very unique. It will be special to see a lot of new faces, as we’ve been given many of the same actors over the past few films. At the same time, there will be a little bit of risk involved, given many are thrown into the mix together for the first time.
