Benedict Cumberbatch has been one of the very best actors over the past decade. In particular, he’s been a Marvel sensation – as he starred in Doctor Strange, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse, and many other Avengers movies. His work in Doctor Strange is arguably the biggest reason why the film ousted a very impressive 89% Rotten Tomatoes score & 85% of Google Users liked the movie. With that enunciated, I’m going to reminisce about the real-life magic of Cumberbatch and untwine 10 fascinating facts about him. 

  • The Power of the Dog

The first icebreaker with Benedict has to be his most recent work in the Power of the Dog – as he was even nominated for best actor at the Academy Awards in 2022 for the 2021 film. A selfish Rancher (played by Benedict) is incapable of respecting his brother, his brother’s wife, and his brother’s kid, as he consistently unveils abuse toward them. Eventually, Peter/his nephew (played by Kodi Smit-McPhee) seeks his revenge against his uncle. The film received extremely admirable reviews – as Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a 94% score. 

  • Teacher in Tibet 

It’s clear that Benedict really gained wisdom as a young lad when he traveled to Tibet to teach English at a monastery during his years at the University of Manchester. He even connected with Buddhism at a Tibetan monastery in Darjeeling. He even considers himself Buddhist at this moment. George Lucas and Steve Jobs also practiced Buddhism. 

  • The Imitation Game

Cumberbatch’s most underrated gem is undoubtedly the Imitation Game and it’s still an extremely fantastic piece of work. The Imitation Game follows Alan Turing (played by Cumberbatch) and his mission to crack Nazi codes (which includes the mighty Enigma). The film also depicts Turing with Aspergers syndrome. A 90% Rotten Tomatoes score was given to the film and 92% of Google Users enjoyed it, as well. 

  • Cumberbatch is an INFJ personality type 

Cumberbatch is an INFJ personality type – which shouldn’t be a surprise to Marvel and Benedict fans. INFJ stands for Introverted, intuition, feeling, and judgement. INFJ is the rarest personality type in the world. It should be noted that Michael Fassbender (aka Magneto) and Zoe Saldana (who plays Gamora) are both INFJ personality types, as well. 

  • Sherlock 

Before Robert Downey Jr. predicted the moves of opponents as Sherlock Holmes, Benedict Cumberbatch was Sherlock Holmes. He played Holmes in “Sherlock (2010)” alongside Martin Freeman (who played John H. Watts). 95% of Google Users liked the Benedict version of Sherlock. 

  • He has a rare condition called Heterochromia Iridis 

Benedict has a biological gift – also known as Heterochromia Iridis. It means that one eye possesses a different color than the other eye. It can be hard to notice the difference from afar, but things become more clear front and center. 

  • He was born in London, England 

Benedict was born in “The Big Smoke”, otherwise known as London, England. He was born on July 19th, 1976. Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Tilda Swinton (Witch in Narnia), and many others were born in London. 

  • The Grinch (2018)

Let’s not forget that Benedict has a ton of holiday spirit – as he starred in The Grinch as the Grinch. The Christmas movie that was distributed by Universal Pictures was an enjoyable movie – largely from the intensity of Benedict.

  • The Courier 

Benedict does a fantastic job in The Courier (2021) – as Greville Wynne (a British businessman that was recruited into the Cold war by the US and the British). The garnered favorable reviews w/ Rotten Tomatoes giving it an 85% score and 83% of Google users liking the film. 

  • He is married to Sophie Hunter

His wife is Sophie Hunter, who is an English theatre director. They were actually friends for 17 years before getting engaged. They share three kids together (Hal, Christopher, and Finn).
