Is Brock Bowers the last hope for the Raiders?

Is Bowers the last hope for the Raiders?

By: Jake Rajala

The Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers is a decade like talent. He was All-Pro as a rookie! He is one of four tight ends that have made first team AP as rookie. The former Giant Jeremy Shockey, former Eagle Keith Jackson, and former Eagle Charlie Young were the other three. Shockey, Young, and Jackson peaked as rookies, as they “sadly” posted career high receiving yard marks in their first season. In other words, Bowers should stay away from joining NFC East teams.

Let it be known that former Raiders TE Darren Waller also had a better two season stretch (2019 and 2020) than Bowers in 2024 and 2025. Yes, I’m talking about the TE that loves head tattoos. Maxx Crosby may be the only person on this earth with more tats than Waller.

The Raiders don’t have the sexiest wide receiver room. Tre Tucker is the WR1 in the Sin City. He had a PFF grade of 65.9 last season. In other words, the Raiders would have been better with Darrius Heyward-Bey at WR than Tucker or their WR2 Jalen Nailor.

Fernando Mendoza or his “step brother” Kirk Cousins will need to really take care of the football and be consistent. Not only are they short-handed, but they play in arguably the best NFL division. The Broncos and Chargers made the playoffs last season. The third team has a hulk Patrick Mahomes.

There shouldn’t be complete time to panic. The Raiders have one of the new and most creative head coaches in Klint Kubiak. He already called Bowers a “football robot from heaven”. I don’t believe Bowers will fall apart as Jimmy Graham did with a new system.

Ashton Jeanty will also get fed more under Kubiak. I don’t believe that Jeanty is the next Trent Richardson. Jeanty will help their play-action game and set up Bowers nicely down the seam in the passing game.
