Is Shedeur Sanders overrated?

Is Sanders overrated right now?

Shedeur Sanders made the Pro Bowl a season ago. He unleashed more interceptions than touchdowns last season. Jameis Winston once threw 30 interceptions in a season. At least, he threw more touchdowns (33) than ints in the same season.

Not only did Shedeur get a seat in the Pro Bowl, but the Bengals QB2 Joe Flacco made the Pro Bowl! Perhaps you have to be bottom shelf QB on an AFC North team to get a ticket to the Pro Bowl.

I get that Shedeur can sell jerseys. That’s still not an excuse to have him bring down the ship. We all remember a former Browns QB that could sell jerseys, but struggle on the field. Of course, I’m talking about “Johnny Football”.

According to PFSN, the legendary running back LeSean McCoy believes that Sanders will be backing up Deshaun Watson in 2026. McCoy said, “I got a lot of sources and connections over there, players, you know what I’m saying. They say Deshaun Watson looks good over there .. and he’s going to start.”

Sanders was ranked as the 42nd QB (out of 43) QBs. They will likely not get an Otto Graham in their future, but it is clear that Sanders isn’t the answer right now.

Watson can take care of the football and be more consistent than Sanders right now. Let’s not forget that Watson played like a Top-5 QB in a season before. Watson is still only 30 years old. He’s a couple of years younger than Jacoby Brissett, who turned his career around at 32.

Let’s not forget about Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco is alive

Philip Rivers is all over the news for being a “44” year old QB. Even the “42” year old QB, Aaron Rodgers, got in on the fun by giving his take on the “mainstream” news. Well, let’s not forget there is another old QB that deserves attention. This would be none other Joe “Cool” Flacco, also known as the QB who has a Super Bowl trophy, which can’t be said by Rivers.

Flacco could be competing at a place that could be his true home for a couple of seasons. Joe Burrow has expressed that he is no longer having fun throwing a football for “hundreds of millions of dollars”. Wouldn’t it be a scene to witness the 29 year old, Joe Burrow, pass the torch to 40 year old Joe Flacco? Many may say it’s a lock to get a future first overall pick. Well, I believe Flacco would be more competitive than someone like Rivers or Justin Fields.

Then again, it wouldn’t be a complete surprise if Flacco hung up his cleats after this season. If this comes to fruition, then they are stuck with Jake Browning right now. I believe the Bengals fan base would rather see Carson Palmer come out of retirement than Browning play another down for them.

If the Bengals decide that they don’t want Flacco, who has a 2-8 record for them, and he decides to play another season, he will have to seek another home. Perhaps he could be the backup to a team that has a real chance of winning the Super Bowl. This team could be the Indianapolis Colts! If Rivers can come back from the dead for them, then Flacco could follow in the footsteps of Matt Ryan and Rivers by playing a few seasons for them.
