Breaking down popular horror games in VR

What are some popular horror games in VR?

By: Jake Rajala

Witnessing a horror film can help people with anxiety and stress (yes, you read that correctly). The horror genre is quite surreal and often complex. Horror fans can reconcile the horror classics — such as “The Shining”, “Halloween”, and “Friday The 13th”. It’s noted that horror fans have the highest IQ among movie categories, so they should recognize their timeless and beloved horror films!

One also doesn’t have to enjoy horror in a movie or TV show. There have been video games where you can fight zombies or chase down a foe with a machete. These games can be enjoyed on an Xbox and PlayStation. However, it’s less certain if there are any horror games on the futuristic VR headset. Well, there certainly are a plethora of horror games in VR!

There are many glorious horror VR games!

  • Resident Evil 7

It would be unforgivable to highlight a game that also shows itself in a movie! The 2017 horror game is all about survival in a place surrounded by zombies. According to Collider, Resident Evil 7 is the scariest film in the franchise, as well. Taste the insanity in the video below for yourself! A whopping 92% of Google users admire the game.

  • Five Nights at Freddy’s

If the movie scared the hell out of you, one has to experience the horror firsthand in VR. In a dark room surrounded by evil toys that can just blend in, the user needs to find a way to not die. It’s somewhat similar to the sequel to Toy Story! Steam gave the game a whopping 10/10 and Meta Store gave the game a 4.8/5!

  • Until Dawn: Rush of Blood

Until Dawn: A Rush of Blood is beautifully gruesome. Teamwork is on full display in “Until Dawn”. The odds against Chris McCandless appear against this crew in Until Dawn. However, it’s not the same in Until Dawn: Rush of Blood. You’re on a roller coaster shooting pop-up clowns in this flick. 87% of Google users like the game and 4.5/5 stars were given by GameStop!

  • Inside the Backrooms

Inside the Backroom isn’t completely recommended for those who are claustrophobic. You are roaming around the backroom looking to escape. It’s an addicting puzzle, to say the least. Steam has handed the game a 9/10 and 95% of Google users like the game.

  • Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul

Paranormal Activity: The Lost Soul is very well-rounded. The sound and sight are on par with nearly every other horror film. This game stands out with more impressive settings in my opinion. Steam only gave it a 7/10, but Best Buy gave it a 4.3/5!

  • Alien: Isolation

If you love the Alien franchise and Michael Fassbender, then you have to try out Alien: Isolation! This game gives you the chance to barely survive from alien attack. The graphics may not look like it’s in Iceland, but they do make one feel like you’re alone on a strange planet!

Is there enough hockey in VR?

Breaking down hockey in VR

By: Jake Rajala

Hockey is beautiful and transparent, to say the least. Hockey is the third most popular sport in the world, according to World Atlas. If Antarctica had a sport, it’s safe to say hockey would fit best. The most popular hockey league is none other than the NHL. The long hockey season and intensely hot playoff battles aren’t the only thing that keeps hockey fans up at night. There are video games that showcase the passion for hockey. However, there is one gaming console that remains a bit more mysterious in its relation to hockey: virtual reality.

There are simply many hockey games for VR. The most prominent hockey games for VR are none other than Hockey VR, Goalie VR, VR Hockey League, and Hockey Shooter VR. Hockey VR showcases a player and a puck. There are realistic angles and opportunities for the player to score. Furthermore, there are a plethora of settings for the player to pick! Meta has given the game a 4/5 review. Goalie VR is also fascinating and waiting to be a Christmas gift. The game requires the goalie to have a bit of leg space to block shots. There can be five opposing players to battle the goalie. Meta Store handed the game an impressive 4.6/5 stars!

There is also a powerhouse hockey tool called NHL Sense Arena. The game showcases high-end graphics for a player and goalie, who have an opportunity to make magic happen. 5 NHL teams and 16 NCAA teams use the NHL Sense Arena. Not surprisingly, 98% of users with the app record an increase in hockey IQ. Jaromir Jagr is one of the trustworthy faces to have a positive review of the app.

Hockey is one of life’s categories that continue to improve – as VR tech progresses. VR will give the edge to any coach or player open to the unorthodox tech. It may even be a bloody race in sports to gain possession of the most updated form of VR, as well.

Is there rock climbing in VR?

Is there Rock climbing in VR?

By: Jake Rajala

Rock climbing is unequivocally the most dangerous sport on this green earth. Hence, it’s bloody entertaining. We’ve been blessed with witnessing elite rock climbers hell-bent on success. Alex Honnold has set records as a free solo climber and then Tommy Caldwell pushed to get over The Dawn Wall. With that said, it’s less certain if there are other versions to witness the adrenaline that comes with rock climbing. The best console for the height and effort that comes with rock climbing is undoubtedly virtual reality.

Well, there are VR rock-climbing games! There is “The Climb” and then there is “The Climb 2”. The Climb 2 has gained a heap of attention since it came out in 2021. The game allows the user to not only climb with a vest but also free solo. Furthermore, it’s possible to climb skyscrapers! It’s safe to say it’s better to have a death wish in the game than in real life.

The graphics outdo the visual effects in the first game, as well. The length of the main story is 4 hours and 2 minutes. The length helps the game have decent exercise. The game garnered 4.2 stars/5 stars from The Meta Store. Per “The Road to VR”, The Climb 2 offers a more diverse experience than The Climb. There is also a VR game by the name of “Everest”, but it’s a mediocre 2016 game, and it garnered a mere 6/10 stars on Steam.

There is a lot of meat on the bone with rock climbing in VR. A rise in quality graphics with rock climbing will increase the thrill. Perhaps it can be possible to sleep in a tent on the side of a cliff. On the dark side of things, it may also be plausible in the future to have injuries on the screen that can hinder strength, too.

If you love sports and haven’t participated in rock climbing behind or in front of the camera, I beg you to branch out and rock climb! Rock climbing has blossomed in films on NetFlix and Disney+. It’s time for people who aren’t terribly scared of heights to garner more climbing features in VR to shine.

Breaking down the Star Wars VR games

May the force be with you

By: Jake Rajala

It’s quite sexy to imagine the upheaval of Star Wars over the past couple of years. Star Wars continues to get better — as TV series of Star Wars have constantly shined. We’ve been blessed with “The Mandalorian”, “Andor”, “Ahsoka”, “The Book of Boba Fett”, “Obi-Wan Kenobi”, and more!

With that. said, it’s very likely that Star Wars material can improve. I’m not talking about the exhibit at Disney land. Rather, I’m talking about the combination of the real-life experience through virtual reality & Star Wars. So, is there Star Wars in VR?

The answer to the prior question is a resounding yes!

There are numerous VR Star Wars games! There are “Tales From The Galaxy Edge”, “Vader Immortal”, and “Star Wars: Pinball”! Vader Immortal was released in late November of 2019. “Tales From The Galaxy Edge” was released in mid-November of 2020! “Star Wars: Pinball” was released in late April of 2023! There is also “Star Wars Squadrons”.

There are three episodes of Vader Immortal. The first episode is about 50 minutes in length. As expected, the graphics in Vader Immortal outdo the graphics in the other Star Wars games. The user is a smuggler who comes face-to-face with Vader. It’s exciting that the user can practice lightsaber skills to prepare for showdowns with Vader. Meta store has given the game an impressive 4.3/5 stars.

Tales From Galaxy Edge is a first-person shooting game. You’re attacked by pirates and you quickly must fight to survive alongside classic Star Wars characters. However, in one of the reviews, they said the standard quests get boring. Overall, 91% of Google users like the game. Meta Store hands the game a 4/5 review.

The odd-ball Star Wars game is undoubted “Star Wars: Pinball”! The user is playing on a virtual pinball machine in an arcade room! The game can get addicting, but the lack of movement may get tiresome. 4.2/5 stars from the Meta store were given to the game. However, Steam gave the game a terrible 5/10 stars! Star Wars: Squadron features a user as a pilot in the middle of the action in space! has mixed reviews, to say the least. It has incredible Reddit reviews, but Steam only has given it a 6/10.

The four games all stand out from one another. With that said, I would rank Tales From Galaxy Edge as the first Star Wars game I’d like to play and then Vader Immortal as the second Star Wars VR game I’d like to engage in. I don’t love flying or a plethora of bad reviews on a game, so Squadron is the third game I’d like to try. All in all, I beg you to branch out with the beautiful Star Wars franchise on the authentic VR system. In conclusion – may the force be with you.

Could VR be used for torture?

Could AI be used for torture soon?

By: Jake Rajala

With the rapid development of virtual reality and MetaVerse over the past several years, the VR world has certainly positively touched millions of people. VR has made a bang with headsets, games, and even movies (such as Ready Player One). It was beautifully recently shown in a podcast between Mark Zuckerberg and Lex Fridman that they could put the headset on and they could look at each other (face to face) in the same room — despite being hundreds of miles apart!

With that said, less-optimistic people certainly care about personal gain more than the vision of VR. Overly power-hungry, piggish, and ignorant souls could even use VR to harm POW. Hopefully, the VR world can garner more praise from billionaires. The filthy rich people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos seem to be focused on space and Artificial Intelligence (with Neuralink and OpenAI) instead.

As the VR graphics improve, people will enjoy their life so much, that they could honestly have a family in the game. At the same time, they could be a hero! People may not want to take off the headset — apart from eating, sleeping, and changing clothes. In the film, Inception, there is a group of people who prefer sleeping because they have everything they desire, so they only “rarely wake up in the real world”. Could VR really maintain our feelings to a state of bliss for us? How could it not be hyper-competitive? Will we get bored in a game?

I love the idea that people can see each other in physical space. I believe this is a much better idea than FaceTime for teaching a class or giving a speech in a meeting! Dating apps would also really benefit from two people seeing each other right away.

Steve Jobs is likely shedding a tear by looking down below at the progression of “Facebook” and the outlook by Mark Zuckerberg, who once sought advice from Jobs in the last days of Jobs’s life. The former Apple founder recommended Mark to travel to India!

In the show, “Black Mirrors”, there is a scene where there is a hologram of a person. However, it’s a conscious hologram! People pay money to shock/torture the hologram. Thankfully, an altruistic teenager put an end to the person going through hell. With VR or AI, we have to make sure that we don’t only create a magical product, but we make something that can’t be simply tweaked into a dangerous weapon.

Ultimately, I believe that VR will rarely be used as a method of torture. I actually believe that VR can be the big break for prisoners. I believe they will adapt better to a sleeky VR headset than the Bible or a box TV. I wholeheartedly anticipate VR to improve the way we learn and make a positive impact in the way we socialize. We will have a lot more ambiverts in the world with VR!

Is Space Trek in VR?

Is there Star Trek in VR right now?

By: Jake Rajala

Star Trek is one of the most inspiring brands in entertainment! It’s where no man has gone before! The show tells us to live long and prosper. We had a taste of Star Trek with William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy in the late 1960s. Star Trek bounced back in the 21st century with J.J. Abrams orchestrating Chris Pines and Zachary Quinto in the show. Epically, the Star Trek film in 2009 brought in a 94% Rotten Tomatoes score, Star Trek: Into Darkness registered an 84% RT score, and Star Trek: Beyond cranked out an 87% RT score! Meanwhile, the original Star Trek shows scored an 80% RT score. It could be said that the future has been kind to Star Trek.

With that said, there is another vital angle to the franchise: gaming. After all, most Star Trek fans are hyper-nerdy in general. It doesn’t take Captain Obvious to note Star Trek: Resurgence has crushed barriers on Xbox and Play-Station. It’s less certain if Star Trek has expanded to the futuristic gaming of virtual reality.

The answer to my prior question is a resounding yes. The VR experience of Star Trek is called Star Trek: Bridge Crew! The game was introduced to VR in 2017! You can have a seat in the U.S.S. Aegis and have the opportunity to discover an uncharted section of space. Action and adventure mesh well in this game, to say the least.

The ultimate conclusion is none other than: what are the reviews for the game? Steam didn’t give it a sexy score – as it gave it a 7/10. However, it should be noted that a whopping 90% of Google users admired the game! Overall, the game is unique and most people report high enthusiasm toward the only Star Trek game.

Below is a beautiful in-depth tutorial of the first-person experience in Bridge Crew!

There hasn’t been any news or rumors of a new Star Trek film. Star Wars has a few VR games, so the pressure is clearly on Star Trek to unleash more jaw-dropping experiences soon!

Is Halo in VR?

Is Halo really in VR?

By: Jake Rajala

It would be blasphemous to say Halo didn’t have one of the best theme songs and all-around vibe in entertainment. The franchise that hit the original Xbox with a bang is quite rejuvenating and refreshing. Hence, it’s worth repeating the joy from the theme song once again.

Halo is on PlayStation and Xbox as Halo Infinite is recently crushing it for those consoles. Yet, it’s less but it’s less certain to a plethora of gamers if Halo (and it’s majestic theme song) is on Virtual Reality!

The answer to the question above has mixed results. It’s technically possible to play Halo on VR, but it’s certainly not made for the masses! Kyle Melnick of VR Scout noted that a reddit user named u/Dyortos flexed footage of himself driving a Warthog vehicle across Zeta Halo.

If you want to witness that I’m not on a pipe dream, use the link below to view the video!

It would be hard to depend on the noob gamer above for Halo to be spread out among the gaming world. We desperately need and deserve Halo to reach the virtual reality circle! The fresh feelings from the birth of Halo Combat: Evolved would return with the first Halo in the VR sphere, to say the least. I believe the worst outcome is that Halo we all love reaches VR with real-life graphics, superior maps, and unearthly guns, in the not-so-distant future.

Halo is really similar to Guardians Frontline – which may deserve deep research to connect the dots between the two. Guardians allows users to be a soldier or a commander. It has future weaponry and adventurous battle fields. You can also fight solo or with another partner. In conclusion, the soldiers look pretty darn similar to Halo warriors!

Steam gives Frontline a 9/10 rating and the reviews on Reddit are mostly very positive.

The VR game Seeking Dawn from 2018 has also drawn comparisons to Halo. It features a space marine on a distant, colorful planet. It’s a sci-fi game that spews adventure and of course: first person shooting. The graphics are more impressive than Guardians Frontline. The weapons aren’t quite as fancy as that of Guardians Frontline. The story line is a tad bland in comparison to Frontline, as well.

Steam gives Seeking Dawn a score of 6/10 and Reddit is evenly split in the reviews.

Toy Story turns 30: reflecting on the movie

Toy Story turns 30 years old!

By: Jake Rajala

We all remember the first Pixar film, Toy Story. It showed the importance of having a childhood-like spirit, regardless of age. Andy is a typical young kid that loves to play with his toys. The main toy and character is named Woody and the voice of Woody is Tom Hanks. Buzz Lightyear is also in the piece and he’s played by Tim Allen.

Well, after Andy leaves, his toys come to life and hang out. They love to stay in Andy’s room. After all, the doorknob is high for them.

This transformation of ordinary things coming to life after people leave is a common thing. “The Secret Life of Pets” showcases animals that act somewhat more human after their owner leaves. Furthermore, “Night at the Museum” talks about historical figures that come out of their position and move around the museum at night. On a side note, it would be very cool if museums made this possible in the future.

As noted by ABC News, Disney and Pixar wanted to make one computer generated animation movie. This film is none other than Toy Story. It came out in 1995.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that it scored 100% on Rotten Tomatoes due to it’s visual effects, actors, and theme. The director Pete Docter knocked the film out of the ball park.

Pixar isn’t the only company to make animated films. DreamWorks Animation has spewed out many animated films, such as Kung Fu Panda and Shrek.

Pixar has really touched my heart over the past decade. I was in love with “Cars” and a child, partially due to them having a video game. My mother and I watched “Up’ recently, and that is quite surreal. WALL-E and Soul are also classics in my opinion.

Ever since “Toy Story”, there have been three other Toy Story movies. There will also be a sixth Toy Story movie. It was hard for my mom to watch Toy Story 4, where Andy goes off to college, as my brother was 18 and a senior in high school at the time.

Trailer for “Hoppers” is here

Trailer for “Hoppers” is officially here

By: Jake Rajala

Hoppers appears to be a family, friendly film that has cheerful, philosophical themes. It follows Mabel (a nerd) able to transfer her mind into a robotic-like beaver. Why did they pick a beaver out of all creatures? I don’t know. Perhaps it is less likely to be hunted than the likes of a Deer or a bird.

It feels quite similar to Jake Sully in Avatar, as he switches into one of the blue people’s body. He is able to speak their language and learn their culture.

The movie is bound to hit theaters on March 6th of 2026.

I really hope this film can stand out in the Pixar world. We’ve seen too many flops as of late. Elio wasn’t glorious. Elemental was one of the worst Pixar movies in quite some time.

Let’s not forget the beautiful actors in this well-anticipated piece. Piper Curda (Mabel), Jon Hamm (Mayor Jerry), Meryl Streep, Dave Franco, and Kathy Najimy are the notable voices. Piper has also been in A.N.T. Farm.

Wel, it would blasphemous to forget the director for this stud Pixar movie. Daniel Chong is the director. “We Bare Bears: The Movie” is his piece of work.

We shouldn’t hide the rest of the Pixar films coming out in 2026. Toy Story 5 will be released, as well.

Take a closer look at the trailer below:

Clearly, the movie appears to create empathy for animals and how humans are hurting their land. Mabel chooses to fight for the animals, despite being born a human. This film doesn’t only have a powerful theme, characters, but it has impressive visual effects. That shouldn’t be a surprise, as it is a Pixar movie.

10 interesting facts about Leonard Nimoy

Latest facts about Leonard Nimoy

By: Jake Rajala

Leonard Nimoy isn’t only a legend in the science fiction world, but he’s one of the best actors of all time. Nimoy dominated the TV screen with William Shatner in Star Trek: The Original Series in the late 1960s. Despite Nimoy passing away in 2015, he’s already inspired countless souls to follow modern and future Star Trek material. With that enunciated, I’m going to untwine 10 interesting facts about Leonard Nimoy.

  • Army

Nimoy had the courage to join the army in his early twenties. Between 1953 and 1955, Nimoy was a staff sergeant for “Special Services” — which was an entertainment branch of the military. Other A-list celebrities who have served in the military are Elvis Presley, Bob Parker, and Chuck Norris.

  • Photography

A young Leonard had a passion for photography. In fact, he went to study photography at UCLA after the original Star Trek. Let’s be honest – we’re thankful he didn’t pursue photography long over his projects later in his career. Many gifted people usually stand out in a few different areas.

  • Vulcan salute

It would be blasphemous to not cover his infamous Vulcan salute! It’s vital to note that it’s true origins aren’t from a pipe dream, but rather religion. Per “Star Trek”, its origins come from the Torah. It proudly represents the Jewish Priestly Blessing of the descendants of Aaron. Aaron is the high priest & the sons of Aaron are Priests or Kohanim.

  • Modern Star Trek

Spock wasn’t only shown in the old-school Star Trek content (shows and movies), but he also had a role in “Star Trek (2009)” and “Star Trek Into Darkness”. It was quite surreal to see the young Spock (played by Zachary Quinto) acting alongside the old Spock. The question is: Is Nimoy better than Quinto?

  • Boston

“Shipping up to Boston”

Nimoy was born in none other than Boston, Massachusets. It’s clear that he has the scrappiness that comes from living in Boston. The population of Boston is roughly 654,000 people. MIT and Harvard are a part of Boston. Other notable people from Boston are none other than Mark Wahlberg, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, and Conan O’Brien.

  • Family

Nimoy married Sandra Zober in 1954 and they were together until 1987. After he got a divorce, he married Susan Bay in 1989 and they remained married until Leonard’s death. Nimoy has a son from Sandra named Adam and Adam is actually a movie director. Adam created the film “For the Love of Spock, and it has a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score! Leonard and Sandra also share a daughter named Julie.

  • Other screen gigs

Nimoy didn’t only shine in outer space, but he also dazzled the audience in an action-packed script called the 1966 show, Mission Impossible! He played “Paris” in the show. Furthermore, he also starred in a space show called “In Search of”. IMDb gave the show a whopping 8.5/10! 92% of Google users also admired the show.

  • Music

Music played an underrated role in his life. It may seem odd the somewhat non-emotion Spock reached impressive heights in the music sphere, but he certainly did. Nimoy’s voice appeared in a sampled form on a song by “Information Society” in the late 80s! Furthermore, his singing ability was portrayed in the alternate music video for the song “The Lazy Song” by Bruno Mars!

  • Awards

As previously stated, it doesn’t require Captain Obvious to state that Leonard Nimoy is one of the best actors of all time. In 1968, 1969, and 1970, Nimoy was nominated for outstanding supporting actor in a drama series. He was also nominated for the best supporting actor for Star Trek: The Motion Picture. He finally tasted glory and won the award for “The Life Career Award” in 1986! He also won “Best Cast” for Star Trek in 2009. His wise presence played a key role in representing the cast of Star Trek.

  • Death

In 2014, it was revealed that he suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). He blamed a long period of smoking for the wretched disease. Very sadly, his millions of followers heard the news on Feb 25, 2015, that he fell into a coma. On the morning of Feb. 27, 2015, the man behind the mystical salute passed away. BB King, Sir Christopher Lee, and Amanda Peterson also died in 2015.

  • Honorable Mention: William Shatner

There are an infinite amount of warm feelings with the combination of Spock and Captain James T. Kirk. The two are like Batman and Robin. Well, it’s worth mentioning that Shatner (who went to space with Jeff Bezos) and Nimoy didn’t end on a high note. Per Screen Rant, Nimoy was accidentally featured in Shatner’s documentary — which stirred the feathers of Nimoy. It’s unclear why Nimoy felt strongly about being in the documentary. Perhaps Nimoy didn’t want to be publicly seen at that stage in his life. Thankfully, Leonard’s daughter reached out to Shatner and said Leonard really loved William.
