Bryce Young dominates on Sunday Night Football
By: Jake Rajala
The 5’10 Bryce Young may often stand on his tip toes, but that didn’t stop him from throwing 329 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday Night Football. He dominated against an Detroit Lions defense that has lost its spark since Aaron Glenn left. Perhaps they need Matt Patricia to return. This way, we can constantly hear about how he’s a rocket scientist, despite failing to create a stout defense.
It was sad that the Panthers constantly did the RPO, yet it was impossible for the Lions to stop. Tetarioa McMillan looked like Megatron, as he unleashed 192 yards and a touchdown.
The Panthers defense bled in the second half, but they showed up when it mattered the most. The Jared Goff-led Lions could’t escape being deep into their own territory. It looked like Luke Kuechly and Julius Peppers came back from the dead to play with the Panthers.
We know about the Panthers defense being shaky. Well, they are still a step ahead of a Lions defemse, which called “stuck” by Chris Collinsworth.
So, how does the Lions defense fix it? Should they trade for a CB? How bout adding another edge rusher across from Hutch? Maybe they need Eminem to hype them up? All of these things could help the Lions.
Goff isn’t talented enough to constatnly win in “shoot-outs”. Not even Drew Brees could win games with his defense giving up 35+ points. He had three straight 7-9 seasons. Not even starring in a “Little Caesars” commerial should give Goff a leg up on his competition.
