What happened to the Colts?
By: Jake Rajala
The 29 year old Daniel Jones looked like a poor man’s version of Peyton Manning last season. This season, Danny Dimes looks like former Colts quarterback Curtis Painter. He led his team to a loss against the Tennessee Titans today. Yes, I’m talking about a Titans team that didn’t have a win before today’s game.
The Colts have the same record as the New Orleans Saints. Yes, I’m referring to a franchise (the Saints) that recovered an onside kick against the Colts in the Super Bowl!
Sure, Jones is struggling. Could it be worse? Well, yeah. They signed him to a two-year contract worth $88 million dollars! That money could be spent elsewhere, such as on their defense which ranks 27th in PPG allowed.
Is it surprising that Jones took a step back this season? Well, nothing is shocking after he hit the turf monster against the Eagles in Week 7 of 2020.
Jones needs to lean on Jonathan Taylor if he wants to thrive. The Colts most reliable receiving weapon is Keenan Allen. Yes, I’m talking about the oldest wideout in the NFL. Isn’t his beard a dead giveaway?
The Colts play in an wide open AFC South division. Anyone that woke up early today to watch the Texans and Jags duke it out in London, would know this. The Texans won and their record is the same as the Colts (2-4). The Colts need to hear this: “So you’re telling me there’s a chance?”
